Tenby town councillors have agreed to adopt their own Welsh Language Scheme plan.

The draft scheme will be submitted to the Welsh Language Board before the December 3 deadline. Town clerk Mr. Andrew Davies presented to members of the council at their meeting on Tuesday evening the draft proposal in accordance with the Welsh Language Act 1993.

Deputy Mayor, Clr. Kerri Durham, congratulated Mr. Davies on all his hard-work in covering every aspect of the scheme.

"I think that by taking a lead in adopting our own scheme it shows that the town council acknowledges that the number of Welsh speakers is growing in Tenby all the time," remarked Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans.

Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths, also thanked the town clerk for a "superb" job.

"I think that the sooner we get this proposal submitted and approved the better," he added.
