THE St. Mary's Soupermen group in Tenby have had another busy year in which they celebrated their fourth anniversary. Their latest ventures, which included two film evenings and a Christmas lunch for over 100 people of all ages, proved very successful. Indeed, for the soupermen themselves, they have been a little too successful, especially around the waist.
During the course of a visit to St. David's, where they met up with their Rector, Canon Andrew Davies, they casually mentioned weight - as a result of this weighty chat the soupermen have decided to go on a sponsored diet, which began on January 1 and will end on March 31. The group has targeted a loss of at least six per cent - the result will be announced at evensong on March 31.
Any money raised will be donated to PATCH (Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship). Sponsor forms will be available in the church from this Sunday, January 6. The group hope this venture will be a 'losing success'.
