Weather warnings remain in place for Pembrokeshire this evening, as Storm Isha takes its toil on the county, with very strong winds hitting coastal areas especially.

An Amber Warning for wind remains in place, with Storm Isha set to bring a spell of very strong winds during Sunday evening and into Monday.

The MET Office has stated that disruption to travel and utilities is likely; and there is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

Many places are likely to see gusts of 50-60mph, even inland, whilst near coasts there will be widespread gusts of 60-70mph, possibly reaching 80 mph in a few places.

Injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.

The Cleddau Bridge is currently closed to high sided vehicles.

There have been reports of power cuts to homes in the Kilgetty and Saundersfoot area this evening.

There are also reports of a fallen tree on A40 Westbound betweeen Whitland and St Clears; and debris in the road between Pembroke Dock Cricket Club and Ysgol Henri Tudor.

With a Yellow Warning for rain also in place, heavy rain is likely to lead to disruption from flooding across parts of the county on Sunday and early Monday.

The forecast states it will still be windy on Monday, but not as windy as on Sunday, and much brighter with sunny spells at times and just occasional blustery showers.

Chief Meteorologist, Dan Suri, said: “Storm Isha will bring strong winds to the whole of the UK through Sunday and into Monday.

“We could see gusts frequently between 50-60mph and even up to 80mph in exposed coastal locations.

“Heavy rain will cause additional hazards, particularly in the west. A number of severe weather warnings for rain have also been issued. Keep up to date with the Met Office warnings and pay close attention to guidance from your local authority.”

A spokesperson for Energy Networks Association, which represents Britain's energy network operators, said: “An amber warning brings an increased risk of damage to homes and vital infrastructure. Energy network operators are preparing to deal with any damage quickly and safely.
