Several schools across Pembrokeshire remain closed today due to the icy conditions and treacherous roads disrupting travel - including Tenby’s Secondary and Primary schools.

The cold temperatures are continuing to impact parts of the county today, and conditions are expected to remain challenging until later in the day.

A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council said: “We are asking all residents to avoid travelling unless absolutely essential. Roads may be icy and unnecessary journeys place additional pressure on emergency services and our highways teams.

“Overnight road surface temperatures in some areas dipped to -4.5°C.

“Our crews have been working around the clock to keep priority routes open. Gritters are out across the network today and our teams are clearing snow from key roads, town centres, car parks and access points to essential services.

“We would urge people to take care when travelling on minor untreated roads and on pavements and in car parks.

“Road users are advised to take care, especially if travelling on untreated roads, and please only travel if essential to do so.”
