Tesco Express in Saundersfoot have made a kind donation to the organisers of the village’s TenFoot charity challenge to make sure all participants keep hydrated!
The store has donated bottled water to the event which takes place on July 12 with the and 13.
Proceeds from the FootStep Run which takes place on Friday, July 12 and the TenFoot Swim from Tenby to Saundersfoot the following day, will be going to charities associated with local communities, with The Daniel Bridle Memorial Fund in aid of Bone Cancer Research Trust, and Huntingtons Disease Association being the main beneficiaries.
Other organisations to benefit in the area from the fundraising will include the RNLI and Tenby Surf Club. So far over £30,000 has been raised in the first two years of the event.
Caroline Bridle whose son Daniel sadly lost his battle with bone cancer in 2014 at the tender age of 18, leading to the Daniel Bridle Memorial Fund being established said that she hoped that more and more people would turn out to support the event again this year.
“It would be great if people sign up to be a part of the FootStep Run which kicks the weekend off on the Friday. No one needs to feel left out because there are achievable distances for all!” she said.
The ½ mile traffic-free children’s race (Under 12s) will get the festivities going at 6.30pm; then at 7 pm, for the 14 years and overs the choice is yours with three separate distances of 1, 3 and 5 Miles on a route heading up The Strand and onwards through the old railway tunnels along the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline.
If you’re not a fan of conventional running kit why not opt for fancy dress!
Whether you walk, run, sprint or support, everyone’s a winner because all monies raised will be used to support local charities and volunteer organisations, and no one will head home empty-handed because all runners will get a limited edition Footstep run medal as well as the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped bring the village alive and get the TenFoot – FootStep Challenge Weekend underway.
