TENBY’s Shane Roberts has published his first book - a collection of poems about Remembrance and its connection to Wales.
Described as “a heartfelt work of remembrance for every generation”, ‘Echoes in the Red Field’ supports the Poppy Appeal with 50 per cent of sales being donated to the Royal British Legion.
Shane, who runs a successful taxi firm in Tenby, is the town’s Parade Marshall, a County Training Officer for the Royal British Legion, a Poppy appeal volunteer and a Sea Cadet instructor. As a committed community leader, charitable organiser and advocate, his work is grounded in service, resilience and purpose. His incredible contribution was recognised in the 2025 Tenby Observer Kindness in the Community Awards.
With ‘Echoes in the Red Field’, Shane brings together a deeply moving collection of poems with a Welsh heart, honouring both those who served and those who still carry the memories. These poems do not merely tell stories; they preserve them. They keep faith with the fallen. They remind us who we are, and of those to whom we owe so much.
Open about living with dyslexia and ADHAD, Shane views neurodiversity not as a limitation, but as a framework for strength. While dyslexia presents challenges in traditional writing, ADHD offers heightened creativity, deep hyperfocus and an ability to see connections others often overlook.
Shane demonstrates that neurodiversity is not something to be apologised for, but something to be understood, refined, and used with intent.
So Shane writes from lived experience, clarity of intent, and emotional honesty. His book, released on December 12, demonstrates that impact is not measured by how easily words come, but by how powerfully they are used.
Shane says the book will be available locally in the New Year; for now it’s only on Amazon, at https://amzn.eu/d/5grBxRr .
