Last Wednesday, three juniors from Tenby Golf Club played in the age group finals of the Junior Wales Open at the Celtic Manor Resort. The competition was for the 36 lucky golfers who qualified earlier in the year from an entry of 160 players. Georgia Thomas had an excellent day playing in the under 13 girls stableford competition, scoring an impressive 40 points off a handicap of 12. This score proved to be more than enough to win her category for the second year running, and as her prize she won an Odyssey XG putter. Emma Guerreiro also had a great day playing in the under 15 girls medal competition, returning a net score of 71 playing off an 11 handicap. This score was enough to win the best nett category, with Emma receiving a Callaway stand bag as her prize David Webb also had a wonderful day, but found the competition a little bit stiff on this occasion, but nonetheless finished a very creditable fourth in the boys under 13 stableford category. Afterwards, all the players and parents were invited to a barbecue at the Celtic Manor Hotel, where the presentation ceremony, which was sponsored by Callaway and Coca-Cola, was held. Following the presentation, each player and parents were provided with a room for the evening and use of all the facilities as part of their prize. Just a footnote: out of all the clubs represented, only Tenby Golf Club had the honour of having two players represented in the prizes!
