Tenby's inshore lifeboat was launched on Saturday after a speedboat lost engine power and was drifting near Lydstep. The ILB took the boat in tow to Lydstep Beach shortly before 12 noon. Tenby coastguard team also attended the incident and collected details and gave safety advice to the boat owners. "It appears that this was their first launch of the year and a number of items failed on launching," said a coastguard spokesman. "Boat owners are reminded to thoroughly test all pieces of equipment before launching," the spokesman warned. Whilst returning, the ILB came across a submerged boat which they towed to Tenby Harbour.

Cut off by the tide

A couple who got cut off by the tide near Waterwynch on Monday were rescued by Tenby's inshore lifeboat crew. The incident occurred shortly before 10.30 pm and the alarm was raised by the husband who managed to climb the cliff to summon help. The ILB searched the area and found the lady above the waterline. She was duly picked up and taken to an awaiting coastguard unit at Waterwynch where she was reunited with her husband. Both were staying locally, but were from Port Talbot.
