Sir,
The Rotary Club of Tenby is working with Vision Aid Overseas to do something for third world people whose eyesight has, through disease, illness or simple old age, deteriorated to the extent that they cannot work.
In those countries where abject poverty is the norm, this inevitably leads to further hardship as breadwinners are unable to support their families.
The solution can be simple; a pair of spectacles will transform the situation and save lives.
Here in the UK many of us wear glasses and replace them without a thought as our prescription changes.
What do you do with your old spectacles? Rather than leave them unused in a drawer, give them to an organisation that can recycle them.
Rotary are going to do that with the help of Boots in High Street, Tenby, who have kindly agreed to act as a collection point.
So please bring in your old and unwanted spectacles - they will certainly change someone's life.
Rotarian Chris Sierwald,
St. Julian Street,
Tenby.
