The National Trust's Colby Woodland Garden, near Amroth, needs help from any local people who can unlock the hidden past of the Colby Estate for a special History Day to be held at the garden on Sunday, June 15. Head gardener Steve Whitehead said: "We're hoping to contact people who worked at Colby Lodge itself or its gardens, or perhaps on one of the Colby estate farms. It could be someone whose parents or grandparents were connected with Colby. We need to hear from anyone who has a memory to share, or maybe old photographs or other memorabilia." Steve plans to use any new information to produce an updated guide to Colby and to form an archive which anyone can access. Many local organisations, including the Pembrokeshire Museum Service, the Dyffed Archaeological Trust and local history societies are pooling resources with Colby on June 15, to bring together all the currently available information of the estate's history for visitors to view. Next Sunday, April 13, and Sunday, May 11, have been flagged up by Colby Woodland Garden as days when anyone who thinks they might have useful information for the History Day, can come and visit the garden free of charge from 11 am to 3 pm, and tell their stories to Steve and his staff. If you think you could help rewrite Colby's history, then please contact him on 01834 811885.
