Tenby’s secondary school has paid tribute to a former pupil who tragically died at the scene of a road traffic collision in Carmarthenshire this week - with her family describing her as “lighting up any room she entered with her smile and personality.”
Former Ysgol Greenhill pupil, eighteen-year-old Sally Allen of Cresswell Quay, Kilgetty, passed away at the scene after her car was involved in a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A40 at Broadoak between Carmarthen and Llandeilo on Wednesday, July 23.
A huge horse lover, who was well known at equestrian events and shows around the locality, the teenager was on her way to the Royal Welsh Show that morning.
Posting on social media, Greenhill School offering its ‘deepest condolences’ stated: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sally Allen, a highly valued and respected member of the Ysgol Greenhill community.

“This news has come as a profound shock to us all, and our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the Allen family and all those who knew and loved Sally during this difficult time.
“The school will be open on Monday, July 28 from 10am to 12pm to offer a quiet, supportive space for pupils, friends, and community members to come together. Staff and Educational Psychologists will be on hand to provide support, and a book of condolence will be available for anyone who wishes to leave a message of remembrance.
“For those attending, please enter via the main hall doors and proceed to the Year 11 study area. Staff will be available to offer support from 10am. Parking will be available at Tenby VC Primary School, as the school site remains closed for maintenance,” they added.
A Eucharist will be held in Jeffreyston Church at 10.30am on Saturday, July 26.
“Prayers will be offered for the family and members of the community in their grief. Everyone welcome,” shared Father Paul.
Her family said Sally was “endlessly caring, unintentionally hilarious and the most amazing supportive and joyful person.”

They said: “Sally was a much-loved sister to William and Issie, and a treasured daughter of Richard and Kate.
She was a beloved granddaughter to Nanna, Bamps, Nanny and Pops and was loved by all her aunties, uncles and cousins. She had a large number of friends and was very popular with everyone who knew her.
“In only 18 years of her life, she touched the hearts of so many people within her community, her school, her work and social life.
“She was a girl who found happiness in attending Young Farmers Club, including Martletwy YFC. She enjoyed horse riding and her day-to-day life at home in Cresswell Quay.
“Sally lit up any room she entered with her smile and personality.

“Since her death it has become apparent how much Sally was loved and cherished. Her sudden absence leaves an unfillable space in the lives so many people that knew and loved her.
“The Allen family is devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends,” the statement from the family added.
Sally’s heartbroken mother Kate Kenniford-Allen had shared on social media earlier today: “All we now have of our beautiful Sally is memories and photos. Let’s now let her know just how special she really was to so many people.
“The hole you have left Sal is enormous and I have no idea how we are ever going to manage without you. We need to keep you alive in our minds. Love you forever my baby girl.”
Her father Richard Allen also shared: “Just beautiful!! But what you don’t see in this picture is the beauty, kindness and love on the inside. That is only apparent to the people who were lucky enough to have met and known her in her short, but very full life. I’m the luckiest man in the world, cuz she called me dad (amongst other things) and from the day she was born I called her Sallybabes. Sally after my unforgettable Gran.
“We’ll never forget you either Sallybabes, forever in my heart, always by my side, keeping me in line. ‘Sally, meet Sally’. I know you’re in safe hands and great company. You’ll have to tell her Sal, “I haven’t got any washing, and I don’t need any thing to eat”. Love you Sallybabes, Love you forever!”
