The owner of a well-know and much-loved Guide Dog in Tenby has paid tribute after he sadly passed away on the weekend.
Anjelo was the guide dog for several years of Knowling Mead resident Sue Canham, before he retired around 18 months ago.
“He was very popular in Tenby - everyone knew him,” said Sue of Anjelo, who passed away on Saturday.
“He used to pull me into shops where he knew he was going to get a biscuit - and he was very cheeky as at the supermarket people would try not to distract him but he would keep nudging them with his nose!
“I also taught Anjelo to find the bread and milk in Sainsbury’s and of course life’s essentials, vodka, bitter lemon and ice!” laughed Sue, who said that he helped her get her life ‘back on track’ and gave her a purpose, after she suffered seven strokes eight years ago.
“We had lots of fun and laughs along the way - he knew every route to the beach,” she continued.
“We once went on a mammoth train journey over 10 days starting in Tenby to Brighton to see my brother Graham and family, before travelling from Brighton to Crewe to see my son Jak, and then onto Stockport to see Nick my other son before heading back to Tenby!
“I wouldn’t have had the courage to do all that if it wasn’t for Anj - a guide dog does give you your life back,” she added.
