A Note From
Your Pro
The club saw success last week in a hotly contested Daily Mail Championships at Bancyfelin. The Trefloyne team consisting of Matthew Adams, James Maxwell, John Calleja, Meurig Evans and Mark Ensor played exceptionally well and won 3-2 to progress to the next round, which will be at Trefloyne against South Pembs.
Sadly, due to the torrential rain on Saturday, the Caddysure Welsh Team Handicap Championships has been postponed until April (date to be confirmed).
Congratulations to James Maxwell, who represented Dyfed County Men's team against Gwent on Sunday. Having narrowingly lost his singles, he and Alan Jones impressed in the foursomes and won on the last.
The overall score at Tenby was 11-7 in favour of Dyfed.
Junior member coaching: This will continue every Saturday at 1 pm throughout the season. These sessions are free to all junior members at the club, but please drop me a line on 01834 845639 if you intend coming to allow me to confirm numbers.
Free coaching Our free coaching sessions, publicised in last week's Observer, have been very sought-after over the last week. There are some spaces left, so please get your names down soon to avoid disappointment.
Starting dates are as follows: girls, March 28, at 10 am; ladies, April 1, at 5.30 pm; gents, April 2, at 5.30 pm. Please email me on [email protected]">[email protected] for more details.
Knockout competitions: Please be aware that the knockout competitions will close on March 31 at 5 pm. This weekend will be your last, so please remember to enter in the Pro-Shop when you pass.
Wednesday night roll-up: This will return at 5 pm on Wednesday, April 7. This concept is open to all gent members and is a great opportunity to meet new and exsisting members in an informal, relaxed environment.
Divot bags: We now have a divot bag system in operation to assist with the maintainance of tees and fairways. We ask all members to consider taking one of these bags with you during your round and returning it to the Pro-Shop on completion. This is a proven method of promoting more consistent fairways/tees, which I'm sure will have a positive effect.
On a final note, I would like to wish all schools participating in the 2010 Tri-Golf Festival the best of luck next Wednesday. I have been fortunate enough to work with some the best schools in Pembrokeshire over the last two months promoting golf and its benefits to both pupils/staff and parents. This is the first of an annual event supported by the Welsh Golfing Union and Sport Pembrokeshire, which will be taking place at Trefloyne at 1 pm. Please feel free to come along and show your support or to have a look at some of the 50 talented golfers on show.
