CLUB NEWS
A second very good fun night was had on July 6 which was a three clubs only nine-hole game. The weather fortunately was fine, although a little chilly to be sitting outside eating later on at the end of the game. In the men's section, first place went to Dave McMann with 18 points, second was Terry Morgan with 16 and third Brian Norman on 15 after a countback against Paul Mills, also on 15. For the ladies, Michaela Edwards went round with 16 points, Fair Fraser gained 15 and Sue Shooter 14, again after a countback against Caroline Fletcher, also on 14. The players securing booby prizes as those most in need of a full set of clubs were Sam Fletcher, Alan Chapman and Bob Burkes and in the ladies, Sue Ensor. A competition was also held to estimate your own score in advance. Those who succeeded were Fair Fraser, Dylan Phillips, Glyn Jones, Terry Harvey and Scott Roberts. A very successful Captain's Day took place on July 7 in fine weather and with a good turnout and some very high scoring. In the men's, the winner was Martin Yates on 37 points, from Trevor Lewis on 35 and Brian Norman on 34. The longest drive was made by Meurig Evans, with Keith Hubbard taking the nearest the pin. In the ladies, Ceryn Harris achieved 38 points, Julie Jenkins 30 and Gwyneth Jewitt was placed third with 29 on a countback against Heather Thorne, also on 29. Longest drive and nearest the pin were both taken by Ceryn Harris. In the Juniors section, Dan Edwards came first with 42 points, with James Maxwell on 37 points and Aimee Harris 32. The longest drives were James Maxwell for the boys and Aimee Harris for the girls. Nearest the pin was Sam Anderson.
