A further meeting of the Dementia Friendly Tenby group will take place next week.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Samantha Skyrme-Blackhall told her colleagues that she hoped that business owners and members of the public would attend, to push forward with ways Tenby can achieve a ‘Dementia Friendly Status’ for the town.
She admitted that it may take a ‘heck of a long time’ to get it right but it was important to take small steps for the town now.
“Myself and Clr. Mrs. Tracey Evans intend to go out and speak to traders in the town to encourage them to come along to discuss ways that they can become a ‘dementia friend’ - so that anyone entering their premises, know there is someone they can go to for help, signified with a badge,” she explained.
“It’s so important for the town, and it all ties in with access too, and also catering for those with invisible disabilities,” added Clr. Mrs. Skyrme-Blackhall.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday (February 26) at 6 pm, at the Mayor’s Parlour in the De Valence, on Upper Frog Street.
