Tenby's D. Fecci and Sons has netted a top accolade.

The Lower Frog Street fish and chip establishment was the Wales winner of the best takeaway of the year in the inaugural Food Awards England and Wales.

Voted for by the public, the awards are designed to recognise the efforts of restaurants, takeaways, gastro pubs, hotel restaurants, cafes and bistros, as well as shine the spotlight on the wonderful local producers who supply their delicious ingredients.

D. Fecci and Sons were crowned winners at a black tie evening hosted by Miss United Kingdom Supranational, Rachelle Perez, at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.

Charles and Carol Fecci, who attended the event, are seen here with the award.

Charles said: "I am totally bowled over that we won. The competition was so incredibly high, I was shocked and stunned we were the winner. The award is testimony to the best staff in Pembrokeshire - the best front of house serving team and the best back of house team.

"Without them, Del and I would not be in business. We have the best potatoes thanks to Richard Hayman and the best sustainably sourced fish. I also thank everyone who has voted for us; without our local customers, we would be nothing."
