John Woodcock is well-known as the author of a recently published book 'Tenby Shops 1870-1970'. After retiring as professor of medical physics and clinical engineering at Cardiff University, he has spent much of his time in Tenby and has become fascinated with the town and its history.
Following the extensive research he undertook whilst writing his book on Tenby shops, he has turned his attention to the walls of the town.
From the earliest evidence to the present day, John has traced the building, alteration and improvements made over the centuries, the people involved, the methods used and the effects wrought by war, conflict and modernisation, not to mention the needs of access for the present day.
Anyone interested in the history of Tenby will find this a most enlightening evening.
