Sir,

What a fantastic weekend we had in Tenby during Ironman Wales.

We expected the Ironman to be well-organised, but the whole town of Tenby seemed to be involved. We didn't have to worry about moving or parked cars, the course had plenty of supportive spectators along the bike route and the town encouraged the marathon runners by calling out their names as they passed.

My sincere thanks also go to the volunteers scattered along the route ensuring we went the right way.

Each one stood for hours in the rain before a planned relief took over and stayed until midnight.

It helped tremendously, spurring us on to the finish line.

The 'magic carpet' finish line was crowded with cheering supporters lead by 'the man on a mike' making them shout 'David! You are an Ironman'. Which was just what I needed to hear. This was my first Ironman and I thank Tenby for making it such a memorable experience.

David George,

Birmingham
