Anyone who attended St. Mary's Church, Tenby, last Friday evening, for a concert in aid of Tenovus, was treated to a memorable musical evening when they were entertained by the Griffon Choir, La Volta, and Dr. John Harrison.

The concert began with the Griffon Choir singing a varied selection of songs, from Sing a Song of Sixpence to a moving arrangement of The Lord's Prayer.

They were followed by La Volta - an imaginative group of musicians who played a large variety of unfamiliar instruments dating back to Elizabethan times.

The audience were fascinated by the look of these instruments and even more amazed when the musicians managed to play them!

When La Volta took a short break from playing, the audience were left wanting more!

However, there was then another treat in store when Dr. John Harrison, the organist at St. Mary's Church, played two well-known pieces of music by Elgar - Pomp and Circumstance March No. 4 and Nimrod - quite a contrast to the music by La Volta.

La Volta then took the stage again, much to the audience's delight, for a further few numbers, before the Griffon Choir closed the concert by singing an ABBA medley, and As Long as I have Music - a fitting song to end a memorable musical evening.

Tenby Friends of Tenovus thank the Griffon Choir, La Volta and Dr. John Harrison for providing such a varied and enjoyable concert, and grateful thanks also go to the members of the audience who helped to raise over £350 for Tenovus, the Welsh cancer charity.
