TENBY has been named as one of the top British resorts in a 'Seaside Splendours' supplement in the latest edition of the magazine Homes and Antiques. Spotted by the town's Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, Tenby is the only Welsh resort to be named in the list.

Others include Frinton-on-Sea, Essex; Whistable, Kent; Lyme Regis, Dorset; Teignmouth, Devon; St. Ives, Cornwall; Crail, Fife, Scotland; Whitby, North Yorkshire; Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk; and Southwold, Suffolk.

For galleries, the article mentions Art Matters and the Naomi Tydeman Gallery, while for antiques, there is a piece on Audrey Bull Antiques. A must visit is Caldey Island, while recommendations for where to stay are the Fourcroft Hotel and Penally Abbey, and to eat, Plantagenet House and the Dennis Cafe.

Star attraction, though, is the beaches, which are quoted as being 'simply stunning'. And for the H&V verdict, Tenby is best for traditional bucket-and- spade-type pursuits.
