Tenby Youth are through to the Pembrokeshire Youth Cup Final after a hard fought game at Pembroke last Saturday.

Pembroke Youth gave Tenby Youth a hard game in the league 10 days ago, and from the start, showed their determination to get the better of the Seasiders. They put pressure on their line and Tenby needed to defend strongly from the start, which they did.

From all the pressure, Pembroke's only score was a penalty goal.

Tenby then began to get back into the game, and put pressure on Pembroke. From this pressure, a mistake by the Pembroke backs led to Tenby's first try. The Tenby pack won a quick ball from the mistake and good handling from the backs led to wing Barry Wolverson crossing the line wide out. Thomas Lewis converted from the touchline.

More pressure from Tenby at the restart forced another Pembroke mistake, which saw Scott McLaughlin use his footballing skills to dribble the ball over the line and, with a fine pick up, gather the ball and touch down for a good try.

Towards half-time, Tenby were awarded a penalty, which was kicked by Thomas Lewis, to make the interval score 15-3 to the Seasiders.

The second half saw both teams needing to defend well, which resulted in neither side getting through the tough defences to score more points for quite a while.

Pembroke were awarded a penalty, which they successfully kicked.

Tenby then went on the attack, and from two successive scrum-fives, Daniel Shooter crossed the line twice, but on both occasions the referee disallowed the tries.

Tenby kept up the pressure and from the next scrum-five, captain Robert James crossed for an unconverted try.

Pembroke tried hard to break through the Tenby defence up until the last whistle, but they were unsuccessful and Tenby Youth were through to the final.
