Tenby and District Lions have given a floral boost to the seaside town’s train station.
Lions president Roly Fury and secretary Nick Stapleton were on hand this month to present John Perrett (station adopter at Tenby) with the donation towards plants for the platform’s planters.
“I am obviously very grateful for the kind donation again. I look forward to having a colourful floral display ready for the summer tourists,” said John.

Giving an update on matters relating to the station, John continued: “The new lift/footbridge is still in the planning stages. It is penciled in for a late 2026 installation.”
Network Rail’s application seeks permission for the installation of an access for all footbridge at the Grade-II-listed Victorian station.
On services, John continued: “We're pleased the two extra summer fast Carmarthen to Tenby, Monday to Friday trains are now up and running. Passenger numbers seem to be increasing week by week despite the lack of promotion/publicity from the train company.
“South Pembrokeshire Rail Action Group (SPRAG) have been pushing for an hourly service on the dock for some time so this is one step in the right direction.”

Neil Westerman, Chair of SPRAG, recently said that the weekday timetable improvements have only come about following months of lobbying for improvements to the service, stating: “Our aim is to see an hourly service on the line between Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock.”
SPRAG has also been instrumental in setting up a Local Rail Partnership with Transport for Wales and will continue to press for further improvements to services including a full hourly service on the line.
