Ladies of Tenby Save the Children were welcomed to St. Catherine’s Island and Fort recently to receive a cheque in aid and support of all the various projects and support activities they contribute to.
Save the Children will use some of the funds towards projects here in the UK, eg Families and Schools Together (FAST) which is an award-winning early-intervention programme that brings parents, children, teachers and the wider community together, to make sure children get the support they need to fulfil their potential at school - and in life.
John Loring (caretaker/manager) of the island and fort presented the cheque from the Fry Foundation Fund - St. Catherine’s Island Fort Project to the group and stated: “It’s an absolute pleasure to contribute in some small way to these ladies who work so hard and give up their own time to such deserving and worthwhile children based causes. We all wish them well for the future in all the projects they undertake.”
All the ladies spent an hour in the fort for an informal question and answer session which included the past history of the island and fort, the present and future outlook followed by a few memorable photographs in some what blustery conditions outside the fort.
