Cruise in Company
Last weekend, seven yachts sailed to Ilfracombe. Leaving at various times on Friday, the participants eventually arrived at Ilfracombe where they were made very welcome by the members of Ilfracombe Yacht Club. The conditions were perfect for a trip of this sort in which the sea was very calm and the weather was very sunny. After a very pleasant stay in Ilfracombe, some members of the group sailed to Lundy on Saturday morning whilst the remainder sailed to Neyland on Sunday. The highlight of the return trip was the appearance of a pod of dolphins which accompanied the yachts for 20 minutes. Being so close to these magnificent creatures was very unique experience which will remain in the memory for ever. All agreed the trip had been most enjoyable and must be repeated. Many thanks to Roy Lawrence for the accompanying photograph.
Passage Race
The usual plethora of juniors tuned up for the training session. Light winds meant the trainees had to use all their acquired knowledge to make the boats move. Principal instructor Blake Shaw was impressed by the progress shown by many of these enthusiastic juniors. The evening was rounded off in perfectly with Terry Evans's world-famous BBQ.
Blues Jam Evening
The next session is scheduled for next Wednesday, June 20. Always a great evening. Not to be missed! Will Scott and his band, Loose Change, will be performing at the club on Saturday, June 30. Definitely an evening to be at the club.
