This year’s Poppy Appeal campaign for Tenby and Saundersfoot’s has officially been launched by Tenby’s Mayor.

Mayor of Tenby, Cllr Dai Morgan, who joined the Tenby and Saundersfoot Poppy Appeal volunteers to launch the 2025 campaign, remarked: “We are delighted to support this important cause once again — a time for our community to remember and honour all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.”

A variety of poppies are now available for purchase from the Council Offices at the De Valence Pavilion ‘community hub’ on Upper Frog Street.

Tenby Town Council would like to extend sincere thanks to Tenby and Saundersfoot Poppy Appeal team in particular Mr Shane Roberts and the Tenby Branch Royal British Legion volunteers and local organisers for their continued hard work and dedication in supporting the Poppy Appeal each year.

Tenby Town Council has announced arrangements for this year’s memorial ceremonies on Remembrance Sunday, November 9.

This year, the Service of Remembrance in St Mary’s Church, Tenby will again take place prior to the Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial.

The service and reading of the Roll of Honour at St Mary’s Church will begin at 9.50am and those wishing to attend are asked to be seated in church by 9.45am.

The Parade will assemble in the grounds of St Mary’s to depart for the War Memorial at 10.50am. Those unable to attend the church service but wishing to participate in the Parade are asked to meet at Church House by 10.30am.

The Mayor, Cllr Morgan would, as always, be very grateful if all local organisations could be represented on this occasion.

Wreaths for local organisations have been ordered and can be collected from the De Valence Pavilion between 10am and 2pm weekdays until Thursday, November 6. No wreaths will be available for collection on the day of the parade.

Saundersfoot Community Council will be hosting the Remembrance Day Service at the war memorial by St Issell’s Church on Sunday, November 9 at 10.45am. The minute’s silence will be observed at 11am.

Groups from around the village will be laying wreaths and there will be a short reading.

The roads around the area will be closed between approximately 10.20am to 11.20am.

Parking will be available but is limited to please arrange to car share if you can. Access to/from the village will be maintained at all times via St Brides Hill, The Ridgeway and Coppet Hall.

Cllr Alec Cormack, chair of the Community Council said: “Sunday, November 9 we will be organising the annual Remembrance Sunday ceremony at St Issells. As usual Mike Knibbs will be organising a march of military veterans prior to the wreath laying.

“We are hoping to have over 200 people at the service this year and all are welcome. See you there!”
