Wilson Mills Mcbeth, aged three, from Saundersfoot is a truly inspirational little boy.
Wilson, who happens to have Down Syndrome, is trying his best to raise awareness and help end discrimination.
His family hope Wilson can help lose the old-fashioned stigmas associated with Down Syndrome through a series of campaign pictures posted on his social media pages - Wilson pretty fly for a small guy.
The local lad has already gathered a world wide audience with many followers from Australia and USA.
Two local businesswomen have also shown their support and admiration for Wilson
Anna Picton and her business Lovecrate, a bespoke sign making company from Haverfordwest, has very kindly made Wilson his own personalised sign.
Annemarie Davies and her cake business Baked with Love, also from Haverfordwest, has been busy making odd sock theme cupcakes to help Wilson and his family celebrate the occasion.
The event took place at the Mayor’s Parlour in Tenby, last week, ahead of World Down syndrome day tomorrow (Saturday, March 21) and everyone wore their odd socks in style.
Mrs Griffiths, head teacher at Ysgol Hafan y Mor, along with Clr. Dai Morgan, also joined Wilson and his family to show them their support.
Clr. Brown said it’s important that the town supports families who are trying make a difference - “Ive known the family for several years and think it’s remarkable what they are doing to raise awareness in the community.”
On World Down Syndrome Day people are asked to wear odd socks!! Why?
Well odd socks were chosen as a symbol because chromosomes are shaped like socks, and those with Down Syndrome have an extra one.
The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the third month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.
Wilson, who attends Ysgol Hafan y Mor School, Tenby, is also an Ambassador for the charity ‘Follow Your Dreams’ along with his sister Amelia - a charity that supports children and adults with learning difficulties through life.
