On Saturday, September 17, the Tenby Arts Festival will be opening with a grand parade and free entertainment all afternoon.

The parade will start at the De Valence at 11 am and go down High Street through Tudor Square and along St. Julian Street to the harbour.

It will be led by the Mayor, Mrs Tish Rossiter and includes Samba Tawe Brazilian Dancers and Band. Entertainment on the harbour will include the Hynes School of Irish Dancing, Moon Carrot Puppet Show, Uncle Sam's Magic Show, 'Dirty Dog', a band from Haverfordwest, and of course Samba Tawe. Knights Templar will entertain from 11 till 4pm on the harbour beach.

The entertainment will continue all afternoon until 4 pm. Everyone is welcome.

In the evening, a Fringe Bands night will be held in the De Valence from 8 pm to 1 am for £3.50. For more information, please contact Anne Draper on 845583 or Val Coates Rees on 843951.

The Fringe events will continue on Sunday on the South beach. Since Tenby was nominated as the top beach in the UK for sandcastle making this event attracts an ever more imaginative set of entrants and creative use of beach material is encouraged.

Entrants are urged to bring water sprayers. Prizes include the now coveted gold, silver and bronze bucket and spade awards. The judges are Marion Davies, artist, and organiser of Tenby Town Trails and Mark Lewis of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.

Steve Walton of the Pembrokeshire Sky Festival has arranged the largest display of banners, pennoncelle and dennons in Wales. Kite flyers from al over the county and beyond now come to join in and fly kites of all shapes and sizes. Mojas will provide a fitting musical backdrop to the day with their eclectic mix of Afro Jazz, Township and Blue Note Grooves.

Any enquiries regarding Sunday should be made to Carolyn Cox on 01834 845180. A detailed programme will be made available on the day.
