Tenby Under 9s 4 Rhymney 5
This was a great match, between very similar boys in speed, strength and quickness of thought
James (captain) directed the boys and the game began. Tenby kicked-off and pushed forward, with Henry L. battling hard in the contact area, along with with Morgan and Ben, a great trio.
The pace of the game was super fast, Ben scooping up a free ball to Cameron who found Rhys who gained ground for Kyle to dodge his way through the opposition defence to slam the ball down with pride.
Henry B. then produced an excellent kick-off, with powerhouse James chasing it and finding Ben and the ever-ready Fletcher, who placed the ball over the line.
Tenby were looking strong and definitely in control of the game.
Morgan kicked-off, with Rhys not too far behind the ball giving the pressure Tenby needed to stop Rhymney in their tracks.
There are partnerships forming within the squad which are proving to be priceless.
Morgan and Kyle tackled every player in sight, while Henry B found Dylan, who charged forward with great determination, almost losing his shorts.
Rhymney were close on Tenby's heels, catching up the score, but Tenby Under 9s never gave Rumney a second as they battled harder and harder. The excitement on the sidelines was obvious.
Ben intercepted a ball and ran free with more than half the Tenby boys following. The score was now 3-3.
Rhymney had a burst of second wind and within seconds, the score was 4-3 to the visitors.
Heads were down, but Tenby weren't out; they picked up the pace, with Billy proving an excellent asset on the pitch, weaving his way left and right.
There were minutes left of the game when Kyle gathered the ball, focused and was well-supported, pushing his body into turbo mode and placing the ball on the line.
But it wasn't enough, Rhymney went on to score and keep in front at 5-4.
It was an action-packed, clean, fair game, with good attitude and sportsmanship, with the Tenby boys working hard to improve week after week. Thanks to Rowland, Steve and all the parents - what a Mother's Day!

Cricc 3
The boys had a quick refreshment stop and then lined up for the second game of the day against Cricc.
The boys did not once show they were tired, in fact they were hungry for a win.
Morgan kicked-off and Kyle was straight in, putting a tackle in that Wales would have been proud of.
Henry L. played his heart out in both games, but professionally went to ground, enabling Tenby to recycle the ball.
Cricc were first to score, but Tenby still battled hard.
Ewan was responsible for gathering the ball and delivering it to Kyle, who scored for Tenby. It's just as important to set up the try as it is to score them.
All the Tenby squad put pressure on, driving it forward. Billy ran hard, Cameron was able to pick up the ball and find the next player, Morgan and Henry B. had excellent tackles, with plenty of running from all the boys, especially Ewan and Dylan, with James and Fletcher supporting wherever it was needed.
The score was 3-2 and tension was showing. Ben's last try with minutes to go saved the game; it was a well-deserved draw.
Thanks to all who helped and supported, and a special thanks to all who manned the tea rooms for the boys.
Team: Ben, Billy, Cameron, Dylan, Ewan, Fletcher, Henry B, Henry L., James, Kyle, Morgan, Rhys.
Tenby Tigers v Rhymney (Gwent)
Tenby Tigers had a squad of 18 players last Sunday, with three players coming into the side from the Sharks team that played the week before.
Tenby started the brighter, with some good work from the forwards and some huge tackles from Gus P. Dick and Billy Kinnaer.
Tenby were soon on the scoresheet after some good interplay between backs and forwards, with the ball going quickly along the line for winger Dewi Thomas to run around his opposite winger to score.
Billy also added a further try after Thomas H. Jones made a nice break before off-loading to Billy to burst through a few tackles and race clear.
Half-time came with Tenby making numerous changes and everyone having a runout.
Rhymney (Gwent) came out a lot stronger in the second half, while Tenby appeared to go to sleep and let the opposition run at them and often made poor attempts at the tackle area.
The little amount of ball that Tenby had during the second half they seemed to waste by some poor decisions, either not passing or by taking the ball into contact and not having the numbers to clear at the rucks.
This gave the opposition a field day to run at Tenby at every opportunity.
Harvey Johns and John Williams made some try-saving tackles during the second half, but that wasn't enough to stop Rhymney scoring four tries themselves during this period.
It was disappointing for the coaches as they had played so well against Tumble and Nantaymoel in previous weeks, but there are no excuses if you don't want to tackle or pass to your teammates.
The Sharks and Tigers teams have a lot of games in the next couple of weeks at home, plus two mid-week games against Carmarthen Quins and Crymych, which will be development games getting ready for next season.
For these two games, the coaches will be taking 22 players so they get the feel of how the game will be played next season at 15-a-side.
