Thanks to a break in the weather, Sunday morning saw the U13s play host to Aberaeron. It was always going to be a hard fought game. Both sides fielded large, powerful forwards who looked to dominate each other in the early exchanges.
The Tenby pack eventually gained the upper hand and were always quicker to the 50-50 ball. This dominance allowed the pacy back line to move the ball, often sublimely, out to the flanks. One such move allowed athletic winger OTB to run the ball 30 metres over the line and score under the posts, watched by the Aber defence!
Tenby showed they have more than one string to their bow when the forwards put several phases of rugby together in the opposition 22, culminating in lock Aled driving over the line. Jerome kicked the second conversion.
A third try followed, again scored by OTB, but again this was a real team effort.
The second half was a much tighter affair. Indeed Aber had most of the play, with Tenby content to force the visitors into mistakes, often breaking from loose play. Eventually Aber scored a deserved try, which was converted.
A special mention this week must go to the boys who have started playing for the team this year. They have quickly slotted into the team making the squad very strong. Well done boys!
Tenby fielded: Luke, Tom S, Dan, Peter, Aled, Ryan, Bronz, Aaron, Marcus, Jimmy, Tom P, Olly, Kieran, Josh, Jerome, Elliott, Shaun, OTB, and Nathan.
Thanks again to all for their continued support. We will have a dry, warm day soon!
A reminder to parents that there are still tickets available for the '60s Night on February 21. Lee and Neil have plenty of clothes available from their wardrobes at a small charge!
