After their previous week's defeat, Tenby U15s weren't going to let the inconvenience of claps of thunder, bolts of lightning and torrential rain dampen their motivation against Pembroke.

A poignant moment was when both these young teams observed a minute's silence, before the kick-off, as a mark of respect, it being Remembrance Sunday.

Right from the kick-off, Tenby took complete control of the game. The backs moved the ball out quickly and the forwards dominated both the lineouts and scrums.

The ball handling in the wet was very safe and quick, ensuring the wings were provided with good ball enabling the game to be played wide, creating overlaps and stretching Pembroke out of position.

Because of the atrocious weather, the game was cut short, but not before Tenby had run up a very significant score in the 20 minutes or so that the game was played.

Tenby Under 9s 2 tries Crymych 3

The wheels came off the Folly Farmers wagon on Sunday when the Under 9s lost their first game out of 10 played this season.

The game was played in very wet conditions, which suited the bigger Crymych players, who were happy to keep the ball tight and have their huge forwards running at the Tenby defence.

Crymych broke the defensive line three times during the game when their forwards used their bulk to suck in the Tenby defence, which enabled them to have quick ball which was always superbly presented by their forwards.

To be fair, Tenby never gave up and scored two superb tries through Henry McBeth and Harri Williams.

The young Folly Farmers realised after the game that they had the beating of Crymych out wide, but chose the wrong option on several occasions.

The boys were sucked into playing their style of game, instead of moving the ball through the hands as a team, which is how Tenby have been playing winning rugby all season.

The coaches pointed out later that Crymych hadn't lost all season and that their coaches praised the efforts of the Tenby boys. This Sunday, the team travels to Trimsaran for a friendly.

Folly Farm supports the

Swifts

This season, there has been a remarkable turn around at Tenby United Swifts.

The new Swifts' committee has been very proactive in securing financial sponsorship from many local businesses.

Without this help from the likes of Folly Farm, the Swifts would not be able to compete on a 'level playing field'.

Chairman Chris Williams, of Tenby Swifts, is delighted for the club to be associated with such a well-known Pembrokeshire and Welsh tourist attraction.

Managing director Chris Ebsworth, of Folly Farm, was keen to get involved with the Swifts, having seen the highly dedicated coaching set-up at junior level, where they successfully encourage the sound principles of sportsmanship, competitiveness, rugby development and, foremost, the enjoyment of the children playing.

Tenby Swifts now run 11 junior teams, from Under 7s all the way to Under 16s, so if any business would like to support them, please contact Chris.
