The weather for Open Week continued to be excellent for the entire week.

On Tuesday it was ladies' and gents' fourball, Wednesday was ladies' and gents' medal and a mixed Chapman foursomes, on Thursday it was ladies' and gents' stableford and the week ended with a Texas Scramble.

One of the highlights of the week was a hole in one. Tuesday

The ladies' fourball stableford, sponsored by Imperial Garages and Marine, was won by Gillian Berryman from Woodspring and Linda Thomas from Tenby with 44 points. Second, with 42 points and a better back six, were Dawn Banbury and Freda Clarke from Mapledurham, and third, also with 42 points, were Mavis Arding from Hennerton and Rita Collins from Tenby.

Gillian Berryman crowned their win with a hole-in- one at the sixth hole. The men's fourball stableford, sponsored by F. B. Mason, was won by Mark Taylor and Ian Arding from Maidenhead with 46 points, second with 43 points and a better back nine, were Kelvin Jones and Gary Brown, of Cregigiau, and third, also with 43 points, were Roger Jenkins and Bruce Mears from Pontypridd.

Sixteen pairs had twos, with Nigel Barden and John Scott, and Roger Jenkins and Bruce Mears getting two. Wednesday

The ladies' singles medal, sponsored by Green Bower, was won by Gillian Berryman from Woodspring with a net 72, second was Leslie Silver from Camberley with a net 75 and a better back six and third, also with a net 75, was Elaine Park from Camberley.

The men's singles medal, sponsored by Rigby Taylor, was won by Andrew Batstone from Marlborough with a net 67, second with a net 72 was Peter Kine from Wolstanton and third with a net 74 was Mike Palk from Caversham Heath.

The ladies' and men's Chapman foursomes, sponsored by Saltern Caravan Park, was won by Vera Griffiths from Oswestry and Rita Collins from Tenby with 39 points, second with 37 points were Keith Howe from Izaak Walton and Russell Clarke from Tenby and third with 36 points were Glyn Williams and Mike Nesbitt-Hawes from Tenby. Nine players had twos.

Thursday

The ladies' singles stableford, sponsored by Sandyhill Nurseries, was won with 38 points by Janet Bentley from Guildford, second with 36 points was Carole Martin from Gainsborough and third with 32 points was the ladies'captain, Ann Follon.

The men's singles yellow box stableford, sponsored by Coors Brewers, was won with 36 points and a better back nine, by Brian Turner from Guildford, second, also with 36 points, was Michael Berryman from Clevedon and third with 35 points was Phillip Park from Camberley Heath.

Six players had twos.

Friday

The last competition of the week was a Texas Scramble, sponsored by T. P. Hughes. It was played by 36 teams with two shotgun starts, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Winners with a net score of 58 were Nick Davies from Newport, David Tuohy from Marlborough, Clifton John from Tenby and the ladies's captain, Ann Follon.

Second with a net 59 were Keiren Quinn from Tylney Park, Roy Jones from Oswestry, Graham Andrews from Winterhill and Joy Brinsford.

Third with a net 61 and a better back three were David Bentley from Melton Mowbray, Gary Corrigan from Bloxwich, Bob Howse from Tenby and Doreen Turner from Puttenham. Next week
