KILGETTY U11s 1 TENBY U11s 6 At last a game! Not only were the boys eager for action after numerous cancellations, but also, one suspects, the supporters had missed their Saturday morning 'fix' of alarm clocks, adrenalin and anguish. So, the Londis at Manorbier Post Office and Stores sponsored side travelled to Kilgetty for our return fixture. With the pitch in good condition and both sides relishing the dry day, an early kick-off saw Tenby take early dominance. The ball was barely muddied before Hugo, just inside the Kilgetty half, connected with a loose ball which he smacked firmly into the back of the Kilgetty net. Tenby continued to dominate and a brilliant pass saw Elliot score the second. Some scrambled goal- mouth action gave the ever-present David a chance to knock the ball in for number three, but unfortunately Nathan took a hard knock in the goal area which saw him leave the pitch. A few minutes to half-time and the boys rallied well and continued their dominance. The start of the second half and Tenby started as they left off. Some lovely exchanges on both flanks pressurised the Kilgetty goal and without their in- form goalie, Tenby's tally would have been greater. Elliot pounced for the fourth and then, surprise, surprise, a header from Dan after Jack's cross earned the fifth goal. Our first headed goal from one of our smallest players maybe? Jack nearly made it six with a Hugo-esque smack from outside the area bringing a great save, but it was left to David, as ever, to pop up calmly and score number six. A consolation goal, late in the game, rewarded Kilgetty in a game in which they battled hard and never let their heads drop. Tenby played well. Corey, donning the goalie's shirt for the first time, showed he is equally at home between the posts as he is, determination etched on his face, tackling and charging up the right touchline; Tom was steadfast in defence, as was Sam after his Florida vacation; Toby and Jack were as industrious as ever, likewise David and Elliot, who all made valuable contributions both in defence and attack; Hugo took every opportunity to bombard the Kilgetty goal and the front-runners of Nathan and then Daniel proved to be a handful whenever opportunities arose. The remaining league game against Saundersfoot may be rescheduled, but the squad can be extremely proud of their record this season. Only one loss against a formidable Hakin side and two draws with resilient Monkton Swifts is probably the best in the league. Well done, and thank you, to all of you who have contributed so much. Thanks go to coach Simon, Neil and Colin; our sponsors and supporters. Hopefully the injured Nathan will make a full recovery in time for some friendly games on a full-size pitch and the Spring Sevens tournament. We wish you well Nathan. Squad: Corey Morris, Sam Butler, Tom Grover, Toby Rossiter, Hugo Wellum, David Webb, Elliot Goldsmith, Jack Murphy, Nathan Farmiloe, Daniel Fairlie.
