HUNDLETON U12s 3
TENBY U12s 4
After playing Hundleton at the Clicketts last week and winning 12-0, Tenby probably felt that this game was going to be another comfortable win, but what a scare they got.
The game was barely a minute old when Sam Christopher flicked the ball past the home custodian to make it 0-1, but it didn't stop Hundleton going forward and from consistent pressure the best chance went over the bar.
Tenby's second goal came from Jordan Lloyd slotting home at the back post from a cross by Gavin Kinsey.
Midway through the first-half, Hundleton finally got on the score sheet with a well-taken goal by Sean Davies, which left Richard Thomas in goal not much chance.
As the game re-started, Tenby's defenders seemed to be at sixes and sevens, which let in Daniel Powers to equalise with a delicate chip.
So with half-time looming and chances wasted, Tenby got the breakthrough again through Sam Christopher from Billy Vaughan's corner (2-3).
The second-half started with more commitment than the first, and by now Tenby's defence of Jamie Robins, Scott Helmich, Aaron Goldsmith and Richard Jones started to tighten-up and time their tackles well.
The midfield also started going forward and but for a deflection Adam Johns would have scored.
But to Hundleton's credit, they came back and caught Tenby on the break and Scott Arthur made it 3-3.
Tenby's midfield of Gavin Kinsey, Billy Vaughen, Adam Johns and Jordan Lloyd pressed forward again and Sam Christopher linked up well with Guto Griffiths to get the winner with a chip over the goalkeeper.
With 15 minutes left, Tenby's two substitutes of Joe Scourfield and Luke Dedman came on to keep the game tight.
Many thanks to all parents for their support, and Mickey Lloyd for running the line and Mickey Barnes for all the help.
Mickey Barnes' man-of-the-match: Gavin Kinsey.
TENBY LADIES 1
HAVERFORDWEST LADIES 2
Tenby Ladies, looking smart in their new kit, sponsored by Tenby's Famous £ Shop, were playing their first competitive match for three weeks, and although they found the tempo of the game against Haverfordwest within their capabilities, they dropped a well-earned point when a last-minute penalty saw the match end at 1-2 for the visitors.
Playing into the sun and facing the wind in the first-half, Tenby overcame their lack of match practice and defended well. When they broke into attack, the energetic Selina Morgan gave plenty of hope for an opening goal when only just losing the race to the ball with the visiting goalkeeper, and Nicola Aston put in a dangerous cross-shot which went past the far post.
Haverfordwest's reliance on defenders Cassie Bennett and Jane Lovegrove was put to the test on several occasions, but their hope of a breakaway goal from Laura Roberts seemed remote as she was marked out of the game by the stylish Carrie Slack for most of the half.
In fact, Haverfordwest's main danger was from Jodie Cato, operating wide on the right, who put in a top class performance worthy of recognition at a higher level.
Tenby's concentration on a tight defence suffered a setback in the 31st minute when a low shot through a crowd of players crept in by the far post with the otherwise safe Denise Powell unsighted.
Tenby's defence, well marshalled by Imelde Rossi and Sally James, came out well to help the attack, with Hazel Sawyer playing well against a very fast Cato, and Nicola Aston was through on her own on two occasions when put away by Tracy Parks at right-back, only to get so close to the goal that the 'keeper was able to block the shot when goals looked likely.
Tenby had more control of the midfield than was good for the composure of the Haverfordwest team and their lead of 1-0 seemed an unlikely score to bystanders, although Tenby needed to find the confidence and composure needed to get back in the match.
For all Tenby's better passing and organisation, their lack of a good ball-carrier made their attacking prospects look unlikely, to say the least, but the tenacity of the team in all positions made the half-time score of 0-1 look a platform for the second-half, which, with a little more effort and good fortune, could get a deserved point at least.
The second-half saw Tenby looking much more dangerous in the Haverfordwest penalty area and only desperate defending by Cassie Bennett kept the visitors in front.
After continuous pressure on the visitors' goal, Michaela Bevan turned and fired in a good shot for Tenby to bring the score to 1-1.
The match was to spring to life after this, as Tenby challenged well in all parts of the pitch, with Ani Nicholls having a good game along with Carrie Slack and Clare Dooley to remind Laura Roberts and Marie Davies that there is no time to juggle the ball against better opposition.
After a hard but fair tackle, Marie Davies was sent off for kicking an opponent and the contest was taking the shape of a bombardment for the Haverfordwest defence.
Angela Nicholls came on for Clare, who had a good game, and played alongside Imelde Rossi, who played well enough to be worth selection for the Welsh squad for her age group.
Narrow misses from the excellent corners of Nicola Aston saw Sally James head over and shots from Selina Morgan blocked in the Haverfordwest goalmouth.
Michaela Bevan gave the right side of the Haverfordwest defence a torrid time, and Nicola Aston looked dangerous on the Tenby right, being stopped on several occasions by desperate and sometimes clumsy tackles.
Tenby's initiative in trying to get a series of good results together could have cost them dearly in the end when a breakaway down their left saw a Haverfordest player fall in the penalty area and the referee point to the spot in the 90th minute. A successfully converted kick saw the visitors get a 2-1 win to prove that missed goal chances prove very costly in matches when the sides are so evenly matched.
Tenby squad: Denise Powell, Tracy Parks, Imelde Rossi, Sally James, Hazel Sawyer, Nicola Aston, Carrie Slack, Ani Nicholls, Clare Dooley, Michaela Bevan, Selina Morgan, Angela Nicholls, Hayley Richards.
Thanks are due to Tom Aston for his work in obtaining the sponsorship for new kit from Colin Sharp, to whom the Tenby club is very grateful, and to Remi Page for running the line.
Next week's match is away to Goodwick in the FAW Ladies Cup and supporters are welcome to give the girls the encouragement they deserve.
HAKIN B U10s 0
TENBY U10s 6
After two weeks of not playing, Tenby U10s travelled to Hakin determined to keep their winning run intact.
Tenby kicked off playing up the steep slope and got off to a great start with Daryl scoring within a minute.
Hakin then packed their defence and kept Tenby out for the rest of the first-half, with their goalie saving shots from Tom, Sam, Michael and Rhys.
The second-half saw a change, with Henry and Billy coming on for Tom and Sam. They both quickly became involved in the game, with Henry feeding a through ball to Billy who beat a defender and then the goalie to make it 2-0.
Tenby attacked again straight from the kick-off, and Billy slotted home his second from close range.
Tenby's defence of David Thomas and Brad Jenkins had very little to do, as did goalie Lewis Hodgeson, but covered any break-outs by Hakin with complete authority.
David and Rhys were rested for Tom and Sam to return. Both boys had their best games so far, and deserved a rest.
Tenby went on the attack again, with Billy crossing the ball into the area, and Tom thumping the ball into the net.
Daryl then popped up to score number five with a cheeky flick and Tom ended the scoreline with a well-taken goal just before the final whistle.
Another good win boys.

KILGETTY 0
This was the first round of the Pembrokeshire Cup and it was played in perfect conditions.
From the start, it was clear that the Manpower sponsored Under 14s Tenby side were on top form and a goal came in the first minute from Harry Allen.
A deluge of goals followed, with Paul Rossi scoring two, Bruce Tasker four, Lloyd Wilson two, Adam Ball one and Harry Allen another to make the score 11-0 at half-time.
In the second half, Bruce Tasker scored a further three, with Lloyd Wilson, Johnny Wilson and Adam Ball getting one each. This brought the final score to 17-0.
The scoreline suggests a walkover, but this was far from the truth. Kilgetty fought all the way and the goals weren't just walked in, in fact most were hammered home from outside the box.
We would like to congratulate Kilgetty for their attitude and for the way the game was played by both sides.
Thanks to parents for their support.
Team: Adam Hughes, Ben Field-Thomas, Rhys Thomas, Muthalib Sofan, Sonny Phillips, Lloyd Wilson, Adam Ball, Paul Rossi, Harry Allen, Bruce Tasker, Paul Griffiths, Dan Lynch.
