MONKTON SWIFTS U15s 2
TENBY U15s 5
A brief hint of spring in the air as the T P Hughes sponsored side travelled to Monkton, a tie which, historically, always seems to carry a great home advantage.
However, within minutes of the kick-off, Tenby lifted the game to heights which left the touchline supporters speechless, as the team played some astounding football, totally dominating the game.
Callum's speed and strength saw him open the scoring before Monkton shook themselves into action and managed to sneak one under the bar and then a second out of the blue.
Callum was then brought down in the box, but Goldie put the spot-kick just wide.
Encouragement for Goldie from the touchline saw a moment of sheer genius minutes later when he got the ball, looked up, took aim and had the audacity and skill to lob the Monkton goalie from just inside their half to make it 2-2 at the break.
In the second half, Tenby continued as they left off, in charge of all parts of the pitch.
Adie showed great individual skill before passing to Goldie for his second, with Callum scoring too. Monkton were awarded a penalty, but like Tenby earlier put it wide.
The icing on the cake was a screamer of a ball from Hugo straight to Adie's feet, who scored a well-deserved goal after his massive contribution.
This was an impressive victory, with the team showing enormous confidence, belief and team spirit. Every player played a vital part and all came away with a feeling of great pride.
Thanks to coaches James and John, Andy on the line, sponsors T. P. Hughes and Jameston Village Stores and the touchline supporters.
Tenby squad: George McBeth, Cheyne Lloyd, Tom Grover, Sam Butler, Hugo Wellum, Toby Rossiter, Joe Worley, David Webb, Callum Greer, Elliot Goldsmith, James Adie, George Lander, Matt Davies, Rob Davies.
Tenby U14s 14 Camrose U14s 0
Both teams observed a minute's silence before this match as a mark of respect to Harry Sillence, the Lamphey Under 14s manager, who died recently.
Tenby returned to goal scoring form against a hard-working Camrose team and were 5-0 ahead by half-time.
Looking solid at the back, with Jacob Dent, Niall Kinsella, Marcus Read and Nathan Wilson standing firm when Camrose attacked, the ball stayed with the midfield more than in their previous encounters since Christmas, and the numerous goal chances which were created, fell to eager strikers prepared to support each other.
Elliott Rivers was impressive on the right, attacking the defence quickly and putting in a number of dangerous crosses to Shaun Whitfield and Aaron James, who looked menacing in the middle. If the ball came across the goal, James Bridges was quick to exploit the situation, by getting the ball back into the danger area quickly.
Camrose had no time to settle, with George Wilkins and Richard Tebbutt winning the ball and controlling the middle of the pitch and putting through the telling passes which gave Camrose no breather, in what for them must have been a torrid match.
Goals from Shaun Whitfield either side of an impressive hat-trick from striker Aaron James completed the first half scoring, but worse was to follow for Camrose.
Jerome Mansbridge came on to quickly score twice, only to repeat this effort after Shaun Whitfield completed his hat-trick, and further goals from Niall Kinsella, Elliott Rivers and George Wilkins brought the final score to 14-0.
Lewis Roberts was for a long time a spectator in the Tenby goal, but showed his class when called upon.
Tenby squad: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Dent, Niall Kinsella, Marcus Read, Nathan Wilson, Elliott Rivers, Richard Tebbutt, George Wilkins, James Bridges, Aaron James, Shaun Whitfield, Jerome Mansbridge.
Thanks to Steve Wilkins for refereeing and Clive Whitfield for running the line.
This Saturday, Tenby will be travelling to Goodwick and trying hard to keep up this type of performance.
Tenby U13s 11 Herbrandston U13s 2
Despite missing several players, Tenby returned to form this week, securing a convincing victory over a strong Herbrandston side in the second round of the U13s League Cup.
Goalie, Daniel Evans did a great job at right back, with Will Davies being called up at the last minute to replace him between the sticks. It's fortunate that the team has two great 'keepers!
With a hastily rearranged line-up, Tenby's play was never going to be quite as fluid as usual. Even so, they soon put pressure on the visitors, with Declan Escott shaving the post, before Kieren Jones glided the ball off the outside of his boot to put the Seasiders ahead.
Declan Escott volleyed in from a corner to make it 2-0. While two great saves from the Herbie 'keeper denied Lloyd Hughes and Spencer Williams.
A long free-kick from the visitors allowed them a snap-shot at the Tenby goal, but Will Davies held well. Tenby launched a quick counter. Scott Ferney cut the ball back, and Lloyd Hughes placed a great shot from the edge of the area for 3-0.
Herbrandston deservedly got on the score sheet, firing in at the third attempt after hitting the post, and forcing a reflex save from Will Davies. But, almost immediately, a dipping cross from Scott Ferney was volleyed home by Lloyd Hughes to make it 4-1.
In the second half, Tenby moved up a gear. Sweeper, Owen Coombs looked very strong at the back, winning headers and hitting through balls half the length of the pitch, while Adam Muskett tackled hard, and left-back, Luke Hartland linked up well with Lloyd Hughes.
Spencer Williams made some great runs down the right and curled in from 20 yards to score Tenby's fifth. Following good work from Adam John and a great through ball from Kieren Jones, Scott Ferney slotted a shot just inside the post to take the total to six. Goals from Hughes and Ferney soon took the score to 8-1.
Adam John and Kieren Jones both also went close, before a fantastic long shot looped over Will Davies, giving Hebrandston a classy consolation goal.
Scott Ferney moved into the centre forward position in the closing minutes and looked very sharp, scoring three quick goals to lift the final score to 11-2.
Thanks to all the supporters, match referee Steve Escott, and to the U13s kit sponsor Park Road Fish and Chips.
Tenby Girls Football
Tenby Under 16s played their last astroturf league fixtures at Tenby on Sunday.
With two players not turning up, it was left to the 'famous five' to play the matches.
Tenby 0 NCE 1
The first match against Newcastle Emlyn was very close, with Tenby creating several chances. Georgia played well in goal, allowing Lori Amos to show what a skillful outfield player she is.
Lori and Jess Webb came close to scoring and Jodie Wallace chased every ball. Casie Paxton was impressive in defence and the team played well.
NCE only once exploited the lack of numbers and scored against the run of play. Despite trying hard, Tenby ran out of time.
Tenby 4
Clarberston Road 1
This was a more even game, with Clarbie also only fielding five players.
Clarbie scored first, despite Tenby making more chances. Jess equalised soon afterwards, heading in from a corner by Lori.
Jess scored three more times in the second half to top a great team performance.
Tenby 1
Kilgetty 2
Kilgetty sportingly played six players to match Tenby's five and a close game ensued.
Kilgetty scored first, but Jess pulled one back to make it an exciting game.
However, Kilgetty were too strong and scored again to make it 2-1.
Tenby Under 16s: Georgia, Jess Webb, Lori Amos, Casie Paxton, Jodie Wallace.
Tenby Under 11s played Camrose at Haverfordwest in their last game.
They narrowly lost 2-0, but the girls played well. Jade played well in goal, with Carys, Anna and Izzy tackling well. Nieve, Tegan and Dazy all ran well and Tenby had several attempts on goal.
Despite losing the game, Tenby hopefully have done enough to get into the finals.
Tenby U11s: Jade, Nieve, Carys, Tegan, Anna, Izzy, Dazy.
Thanks to Shauna for running the side.
