TENBY U15s 10

MILFORD U15s 3

It has been eight weeks since the T. P. Hughes sponsored Tenby team played, but would this long lay-off affect their performance after an impressive start to the season.

From the start, Tenby totally dominated, with Callum and Goldie scoring early on. Milford capitalised on a defensive mix-up getting one back, before Hugo lined up a free-kick and found the back of the net.

Sam tapped in the fourth, Hugo took the fifth, with Sam meeting a free-kick superbly to make it 6-1, but the visitors battled on, scoring a second before half-time.

After the break, Tenby went off the boil for a while following a couple of substitutions, with the players taking time to settle.

James had one disallowed, before Callum put through another great ball, with James on-side for this one.

The home side were down to 10 men for a few minutes as Jack left the field, when Callum scored his second, but were back to full strength when Hugo completed a hat-trick.

Goldie put the score into double figures, while Milford grabbed a third late on.

A bit rusty round the edges from Tenby, but a strong performance overall against a committed Milford side.

Thanks to James and John, Ted, Andrew, T. P. Hughes, Jameston Village Stores and the touchline supporters.

Tenby squad: Milea Williams, Cheyne Lloyd, Tom Grover, Sam Butler, Rhys Nicholas, Hugo Wellum, Joe Worley, Toby Rossiter, David Webb, Callum Greer, Elliot Goldsmith, George McBeth, Jack Murphy, James Adie, George Lander, Matt Davies, Rob Davies.

KILGETTY U12s 2

TENBY U12s 3

Without a fixture for a month, the Andrew Price sponsored U12s made the short trip to local rivals Kilgetty. The pitch was heavy in places, but the boys just wanted to play after such a long lay-off.

Tenby fielded a strong side, and with a good reason, as Kilgetty got straight into their stride and passed the ball around crisply to feet. Tenby huffed and puffed, but could not quite get their passing game going.

With Kilgetty playing down the slope, the Tenby defence were called upon early on, with Ben and Jordan having to make important challenges. Matthew and Harry were also forced deep into their own half as Kilgetty played with more and more confidence.

The midfield of Adam, Harri, Morgan and George battled for everything and slowly Tenby started to have a little more of the ball.

But it was Kilgetty who scored first. A corner came in from the right, Tenby half cleared, but a fine shot from Kilgetty left Natty stranded as the ball hit the back of the net.

Tenby seemed to wake up and made a few runs into the Kilgetty half as Louis and Luke started linking up well, but Kilgetty were hard to break down and at half-time the score remained 1-0.

As the second half started, Tenby had more of the ball. Adam and Harri played some telling passes into Luke and Louis, who now for once had a bit more room to work in, but it was a defender who equalised. Another corner from the right came over from George, Kilgetty failed to clear, Harry had his first shot cleared, but scored with a nice shot from the rebound, 1-1.

Natty was called into action and raced off his line to keep the dangerous Kilgetty forwards at bay.

But with a deflection off the defender and Natty for once wrong-footed, the ball seemed to gently roll into an empty goal to make it 2-1 just minutes after equalising.

Luke now was making some great runs into the Kilgetty area, supported well by Louis and George. It was George's corner again that caused problems for Kilgetty and Luke netted with a great near post header, 2-2.

With both teams not giving an inch, the work-rate was fantastic, with real end to end stuff. Matthew, Morgan and Jordan ran themselves into the ground and with Harri and Adam working non-stop, the game was turning into a real thriller.

Morgan made way for Lewis, who slotted in well and ran at a now tired Kilgetty defence. Adam also came off for Malley to have a run-out.

With minutes to go, Kilgetty moved the ball wide, the attacker forced his way into the box with his eye on goal, but Harry came from nowhere and made a great challenge to prevent what might have been the winner.

Instead the ball was moved upfield by Matthew, before Luke played a delightful ball to Louis, who lifted it over the defender and the Kilgetty 'keeper and in off the post, to make it 3-2 to Tenby, and for the first time in the game the visitors were ahead.

Still the game went back and forth, with chances at both ends, but Tenby held out to enjoy a hard fought win against a very good Kilgetty side. 'Well done boys'.
