TENBY U16s 5 HUNDLETON U16s 0

Tenby Under 16s, sponsored by Willow Carpentry, played their first game of the New Year and made it eight wins from eight matches.

Will Thomas opened the scoring for the Seasiders within the first six minutes. A poor kick out from the visiting 'keeper, Tom Russell, fell to Declan Carroll and he released Thomas to score with a cracking left-foot shot.

The remainder of the half was a very close affair, with neither side giving anything away. However, right on half-time, a cross from Ashley Smith was only cleared as far as Alex Heesom, who hit the ball into the roof of the net.

The second half saw Hundleton come to Tenby, but good defending by the home defence and 'keeper, Jake Roberts, kept them at bay. Tenby then went further ahead when Thomas's pin-point cross was headed home by Smith. Russell made several good saves to deny Tenby, but could not prevent Jordan Richards scoring at the near post, from Gareth Warlow's corner.

The overnight rain began to take its toll, as the pitch became heavier and heavier, but credit to both sides for continuing to try and play a passing game.

The final score came from another corner which captain, Curtis Hurlow, poked in from six yards.

Tmorrow (Saturday), Tenby travel to Glynneath for a West Wales Youth Cup match.
