One of Tenby's major fund-raising events tickles the taste buds next week.

The annual Christian Aid lunch is staged this year at Church House, in the grounds of St. Mary's, at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 28. Tickets are £7.50 each (tel. 01834 843485).

Tenby's Christian Aid secretary, Malcolm Stacey, said: "It seems a bit ironic, but anyone coming to this scrumptious lunch will certainly help families for whom eating one frugal meal a day is a luxury. Sadly, much of the world goes hungry every day." Lunchtime recitals, with top musicians, will also be held in the church today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) with retiring collections. They begin both days at 12.30 pm.

During the week, hard-working children from Tenby are holding car washes and shoe-shine sessions in the Rectory Car Park and the entrance to St. Mary's Church.

And there's an opportunity to give to Christian Aid in collection boxes in various Tenby churches. Anyone who hasn't time to attend is kindly invited to either leave a donation at the door or hand it to Malcolm Stacey at 9 Crackwell Street, Tenby.
