Vehicles being issued with warning notices carrying fake Tenby Town Council and Pembrokeshire County Council crests instructing motorists not to park in an area of the town have been flagged up.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, both Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter and the town clerk Andrew Davies told members that vehicles parking on the street in front of the The Old Convent of St Teresa building on the South Parade opposite the town walls and Five Arches, had been targeted with fake notices on their windscreens.
“One disabled Blue Badge holder told me they’d had a letter put on their car’s windscreen which carried a Tenby town council crest, informing them that they should not park there - but it’s not from us!” said Clr. Mrs. Rossiter.
The Mayor, Clr. Tony Brown said that he’d also heard from a couple of people who had received similar fake warnings place on their vehicles too around the same area.
“We have been made aware of this too, but as it was around November time, it was passed off then as perhaps some kind of one-off prank for Halloween!” said the town clerk.
“I have checked with PCC’s streetcare manager Marc Owen and it is nothing to do with the authority either.
“PCC is now taking steps to identify the person responsible for issuing the fake notices,” continued Mr. Davies, explaining that as the PCC and TTC logos were copyrighted, action could be taken against the culprits.
