The community of Tenby have once again urged anyone in need of help or even just a friendly voice during the pandemic and ongoing lockdown in Wales to get in touch for any assistance required.
Set up at the start of the Covid-19 crisis the ‘Tenby Together’ Facebook group which has been co-ordinated by members of the town council and volunteers has been offered as a place for people to provide help and assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Unlike England, where there has been some easement, in Wales the lockdown has again been extended into the first week of June at the earliest, and as such, we felt it important to keep in touch and again thank you for volunteering to help your local community during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said the town clerk Andrew Davies.
“Fortunately, at the time of writing, requests for assistance from the community have still been low as people have found ways to manage in these unprecedented times.
“However, there have been a number of more vulnerable and at-risk residents we have been able to assist with things like shopping, medication collection and even just being a friendly voice at the end of a phone to combat the loneliness of isolation.
“Going forward we do not know what the consequences of the easing of lockdown will be. Hopefully, Government plans will ensure that there will not be a ‘second spike’ but your continued help remains vital in providing the support our local community may still need going forward,” he continued.
“We must still keep pulling together to continue to be here to support each other, to support those who are less fortunate and to support those who require help if and when needed.
“If you know someone who needs help, please do not assume someone else may be doing it. You can still support our community and especially those in need by being a kind neighbour or simply by being a good friend to talk to.
“Stay strong, stay safe and please continue to support and look out for one another where you can.
“You are all truly remarkable people and we thank you again for supporting our wonderful community,” he added.
Anyone who would like to assist in a volunteer capacity, can contact the town council via telephone on 01834 842730, email at: [email protected] and via Facebook.
