Tenby Sea Cadets put on a dazzling display for their annual inspection and have again been awarded an Efficiency Pennant for being in the top quadrant of the 400 UK units.

Lt. Cdr. W. A. Thomas RNR and his inspection team witnessed the Tenby cadets performing the ceremonial colours routine before inspecting the Ship's Company at divisions. He spent time with every cadet to assess their training and progress for promotion.

During the second part of the evening, the inspection team set the cadets a variety of evolutions and activities. The first activity was to rig a light jackstay transfer so the cadets understood how ships at sea transferred stores between ships. Then the cadets were involved with various ropes to check their knowledge of various knots.

The final evolution required the cadets to lay on a Powerpoint demonstration to show the audience of parents and supporters all the events the unit had been involved in during the last year.

The unit committee, buildings, boats and administration had previously been appraised by the Area Logistics Officer for fire and health safety plus checking all the risk assessments, boat logs and training/advancement records.

The evening ended with the ceremonial of 'Evening Colours' and the cadets could then relax with their parents at a buffet kindly allowed to take place in the Tenby Sailing Club.

The staff and cadets are now busy with their boating, preparing for this year's regattas and for their sea trip on TS John Jerwood in September. With such a busy programme, the unit is looking for more adult helpers to assist these young people to achieve their potential.
