Staff at Tenby's Yorkshire Building Society are taking part in the 'Rising Starz' Appeal in aid of Whizz-Kidz to raise money to provide vital mobility equipment for young people this Christmas.

'Rising Starz' is Yorkshire Building Society's 2008 Christmas fundraising appeal that will raise money to provide mobility equipment customised to an individual child's needs.

Over 70,000 disabled children in the UK could benefit from a customised wheelchair or other type of mobility equipment.

Sian Rees, manager at the Tenby branch, said: "The right wheelchair at the right time can make a world of difference to a disabled child. I hope our existing customers and the general public will get behind the appeal so we can ensure Christmas will truly sparkle for disabled children this year."

Limited edition Christmas tree star decorations and mobile 'phone charms will be on sale at the Yorkshire's branch at Tudor Square, throughout the appeal, which runs until December 31.

Staff at the Tenby branch will also be holding a second-hand book sale and taking in book donations throughout the appeal if anyone would like to contribute. All money raised will be matched pound for pound by the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
