What a miserable day awaited members for their first meeting in August. Happily for them, inside the club a warm welcome awaited. Can this really be the glorious summer?

They were off to a prompt start under the watchful eye of their president, Greg Grist. Arthur Squibbs reminded the meeting that there were still seats available for the Mystery Trip on September 5. Contact him on 843694 if you are interested in joining them on that day. This event is open to all.

The secretary reminded the meeting that the next Ladies Day is on the 29th of this month when the speaker will be Dr. Kathy Talbot, curator of Tenby Museum. Incidentally, a few of the club's artefacts are on display in the History of Tenby Gallery for all to see.

Speaker for the morning was Arthur, who spoke about something over which no one had any control, namely their given names! He was able to quote many instances where the names had an amusing ring to them. Fortunately he held back on the ones with a rude connotation, but this didn't stop many suggestions from the floor.

Thanks to go Arthur for opening up a whole new bag of worms.

The next meeting is on August 15, when the speaker will be Ray Poole, who asked the members what they would like to discuss. It was left to his choice.
