Ladies Day for October was a carvery lunch at the Begelly Arms Hotel. This gave Margaret a break from her normal buffet-making and the new venue was approved by all. They had an excellent meal and good service and intend to repeat this in the coming year. The first meeting in November was well attended and socialising went on apace. The secretary reminded members of the Christmas lunch in December, and the AGM, which is in January, when the club needs a vice-president. There is a Ladies' Day at the end of January, when there will be a speaker, plus a buffet lunch, but more of this nearer the date. John Tipton was speaker for the morning when he gave an account of an attempt to place aircraft on the island of Malta. This was in 1940 around the time of the fall of France. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. If you wrote about it, no one would believe it. How did we manage to win the war? The next meeting is on November 21 when the speaker will be Darrel John.
