Nicky Hancock and Peter Oeppen 56.25. East/West - 1. June Jones and Wally Heaton 63.49; 2. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 53.70; 3. Chris Overton and Gareth Jones 52.65.
Friday, October 3: A six-table Howell movement in play. This was one of those nights which required very special skills to find the route to the top. Hon. sec Irene was in the hot seat, directing and scoring the event, and she insisted on a very loud fanfare as she announced the results:
1. Jo Davies and Allan Taylor 60.74; 2. Avril and Hywel Probert 56.67; 3. Trevena and Newman Vincent 56.30; 4. Doug Silcox and Kevin Thomas 54.07; equal 5. Pam Evans and Mike Taylor with Coral Jones and Irene Warlow 52.59. Interesting night.
