Last week's meeting of the camera club, at St. Florence Village Hall, was a mini competition, based on photos taken during summer.
This was followed by a talk on how to mount photographs by Roger Toon.
In the absence of the chairman, Paul Richards welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The club was delighted to hear that Jill Baxter and Paul Richards have been chosen as judges for the prestigious Swansea International Salon, later in the year. This is a great honour and reflects Jill and Paul's hardwork in their photography.
There was a good and varied entry for the mini competition. Members were shown the pictures, and then everyone voted for the entries, giving a mark between one and five to each entry.
While everyone enjoyed their refreshments, the votes were entered on a spreadsheet, and after a closely fought contest, the results were announced.
In third place, was "'Wish You Were Here?' by Gill Mackay, in joint second place, 'Proud Grandfather' by Roy Peters and 'Hungry Harry' by Paul Richards, and in first place, 'Dust Bowl' by Susan McKehon. This is the first win for Susan, a sign of things to come.
This was followed by a very interesting and informative display by Roger Toon on how to mount photographs.
Roger brought along the equipment he uses for mounting prints, and gave a very clear explanation of how he goes about measuring and cutting the mounts.
When he managed to cut the mount, and successfully prise out the centre to leave a beautifully cut outer window, everyone clapped.
Everyone found Roger's explanation very helpful and all hope to be able to achieve well mounted pictures, for future competitions.
Next week's meeting will be a tutorial by Jill Baxter EFIAP, DPAGB, entitled 'Creative Photoshop'. Entries for the panels competition are to be handed in on that night.
