Last week's meeting at Tenby and District Camera Club was the judging night for the Second Open Competition, with judge Brian Coleman AWPF.
Mr. Coleman started with the prints section. With a very high standard of images, many of them on the subject of natural history, the judge worked through the selection, making helpful and constructive comments on the worked offered.
From a field of 27 images, he selected four for special attention. To these, he awarded the points as follows: in joint third position, with 18 points each, were 'Yellowhammer' by Paul Richards and 'Online' by Gill Mackay, in second place, with 19 points, was 'Winter Wonderland' by Paul Richards, while the winner, with 20 points, was 'A Study in Blue' by Roy Packer.
After a break for refreshments, Mr. Coleman proceeded to judge the digital images. Once again, the standard was very high.
From a total entry of 38 images, Mr. Coleman selected several he wished to review again, at the end. To these, he awarded the winning points: in fourth place 'Red-Eyed Tree Frog' by Alan Jones, in third place 'Market Scene' by David Lewis, in second place 'Freshwater West' by David Warren, and in first place, 'Hen Pheasant, sitting' by Paul Richards.
Everyone enjoyed Mr. Coleman's judging methods and warmly congratulated the winners.
The next meeting, on December 17, is the Christmas quiz night and social evening. This will be Ron Powell's legendary Christmas quiz, followed by a buffet and raffle. Everyone is welcome.
