A warm welcome is extended by Tenby and District Camera Club to anyone interested in furthering the art of mainly digital photography. The club was formed in the early '80s and has come a long way since those days, keeping up with the modern technology of today's cameras and other technological aids. The club meets on Thursday nights at St. Florence Village Hall from 7 pm until 10.30 pm and a wide and varied programme is again set up for the coming season and includes guest speakers, competitions and workshops with practical advice. The objectives of the club include the development of photography to improve an individual's skill in this gentle art and members are of all ages and both sexes. The winter season will start on Thursday, September 6, and will extend through to the end of April when the summer season starts and meetings are then twice a month through to July with a short break for the month of August before recommencing in earnest again in September. Some of the work created by members has made the club an outstanding success in local and national competitions. The All Britain Inter-Club Slide Championship took place at Warwick University on Saturday, July 21. There were 31 clubs competing, with Wales being represented by Tenby and District Camera Club and Swansea Camera Club, who were winners and runners-up, respectively, in the Welsh qualifying heat of the 'Ace of Clubs' competition held near Cardiff. Tenby Club came a creditable 13th overall. Well done members! One of the highest scoring images was taken by local nature photographer, Paul Richards, shown below and titled 'Wash and Brush up'. Not everyone is so expert in the field, but if you are interested and would like to learn or contribute in any way, please go along and join them.
