The club recently welcomed Mr. Nick Jenkins, photojournalist and travel guide, who gave a talk on some of his recent projects and travels. Mr. Jenkins, a very able and entertaining speaker, was received by a full house and members were given a very interesting presentation. The talk, spiced with anecdotes and information, was backed up with an excellent selection of slides, mainly of landscapes, which are Mr. Jenkins's speciality, but also covering other areas of interest to the photographer. He ended the evening by answering a great number of questions on many aspects of his photography. At the latest meeting, vice-chairman, Ray Hine, started the evening when he spoke about his efforts to get into audio visual presentations, a subject he backed up with a showing of his latest presentation entitled 'El Alhambra' in which he outlined some of the difficulties he had encountered, mainly on the technical aspects of making the presentation. The second half of the evening Chris Warren gave a showing of a random selection of photographs taken from the internet in which he invited members to comment and give an assessment on the merits or otherwise of each photograph. This proved a very welcome diversion from the normal events and it is hoped it will be repeated again in the future. February 22 is the closing date for enteries to The Photo Reality open theme competition and March 1 is the date for the Beginners or Novice competition - this competition is open to members who have either not participated in a previous competition or who have not won a competition in the past. there will also be a social evening in conjunction with the Beginners competition in celebtation of St David's Day. If you are interested in the club, why not join them on a Thursday evening at 7.30 pm at the Church Hall, St. Issell's Church, Saundersfoot, when you will be most welcome.
