FORTHCOMING EVENTS
We're up to date on club match results, but there are a few events of note coming up over the next few weeks.
Next Sunday's match (October 16) will now be held at Pendine and fishing will be from 2 to 6 pm. We have beach access agreed, as usual, and anglers will need to be on the slip by 1.15 pm to go up the beach, if they so wish.
Then on Wednesday, October 19, the Mid Week series continues - leave the multi-storey car park at 7 and be back by 11 pm.
The following weekend (October 23) we take on Pembroke and District for the Fishermen's Friend Trophy and this competition takes place at Llanstephan. We will fish to Pembroke's rules this year and the match takes place between 1.30 and 6.30 pm. This will include any travelling time, so please be at the booking-in prompt to remind ourselves of the Pembroke requirements.
'THE BIG ONE'
After that comes 'The Big One', with the Tenby and District Open Festival taking place on October 30. Fishing will be from 12.30 to 5.30 pm and is restricted to Tenby North and South Beaches this year, due to reducing available manpower levels. Entry is £12 and the first prize is still a tasty £600.
Further cash prizes are expected to be available and these will be linked to the number of entries the club receives. We cannot pay out more than we take, otherwise we'll end up like a country in the 'EuroZone', but without the Germans to bail us out! Pre-booking will be available at local tackle shops and entries can be made on the day at the Ex-Servicemen's Club, Tenby. As usual, there will also be a comprehensive raffle at the finish, the Ex Se-vicemen's Club.
Finally, a quick note for club members. Remember that you must have fished five matches in order to qualify to enter the 'Fur n Feather' match which will take place on December 11.
