A select gathering attended the Giltar Hotel for a very pleasant presentation evening last Saturday. A few drinks were consumed, together with a fine buffet, and thanks go to the hotel staff for their attention. After the prize winners, seen in the group photograph, had received their awards from chairman Bob Willing, all retired to the bar for more beverages. Congratulations go to all prize winners, especially the junior contingent (although Gareth Boyle to the left of the picture looks at bit glum!). Club stalwarts sold raffle tickets during the evening for a fine array of prizes compiled by Barry and Louvain Taylor. As is customary, all proceeds, amounting to £140, will be donated to the Gateway Club, of Tenby. Rover Again, as is customary, the day after the dinner saw those anglers fit enough gathering at the multi- storey car park to do battle in the next roving match. Compared to recent weeks, the weather was a revelation and glorious sunshine and calm conditions meant the rocks beckoned for a few and those heading for the beaches might be in their 'cut-offs'. Venues across the north and south of the county were enthusiastically visited by 11 competitors, including two juniors. After eight hours, the anglers were back at the multi by 9 pm and recorded LSD, bull huss, coalfish, five-bearded rockling, flounder and poor cod. Results were: 1. Nev Andrews and the Pope, 31 pts; 2. Idris Williams and Mike Bradshaw, 21 pts; 3. Gareth and Karl Boyle, 12 pts. The next match is the annual trip to Clevedon Pier to fish the reverse leg of the inter-club competition. Twelve anglers are currently signed up to wrest the trophy from Clevedon and with a small deficit of 5 oz to make up from the first leg in November, they stand a good chance this year. A full, eat as much as you want, carvery is on offer for the post-match socialising. Any anglers wishing to go, please let Nev know. Further information at any time from Nev Andrews on 01834 814072.
